Her mother Bina Fricker and father Desmond Frederick Fricker raised her alongside her sister Nora Ann Grania Fricker.
Just over a year ago, Brenda Fricker committed suicide on screen. Her long-running character, the nurse Megan Roach in the BBC medical drama Casualty, had taken a lethal cocktail of drugs to end her life. It wasn’t quite a case of life imitating art, but it would appear Fricker didn’t need to dig too deep to get into character for that scene.
