The Pearl of Allah was discovered in 1934 off the coast of the Palawan Island in the Philippines. The pearl's name comes from the its unique resemblance to that of a turbaned man. The pearl made its way to America with Wilburn Cobb in 1939. Cobb received the pearl as a gift from a Philippine Chief in exchange for saving the chief's son's life.
